We’ve been raising Dorper sheep for meat for the last 5 years and have decided to change our breed to Australian Whites. The Whites are a mix of Poll Dorset, Texel, White Dorper and Van Rooy and the breed was developed on Tattykeel in Black Springs NSW.

We purchased our Whites from Bega Valley Australian Whites owned by Tim and Merryn Snellgrove near Candelo and are now the proud owners of a ram (Chip) and three ewes (yet to be named). The reason we purchased Australian Whites is that they are easy care, low maintenance with high fertility, easy lambing and fast growth. The meat is meant to be lovely as well – looking forward to giving it a try in 2026.

This is our handsome Chip when he was a lamb and had just been tagged.

This is Chip now, still handsome and ready to start his new life at Glen Oaks with his three girls.

Thanks to Bega Valley Australian Whites’ Facebook page for the images.

We’ll let you know when the lambs start to arrive!
